Originally, the Employee Retention Credit (ERC) came to help businesses in the CARES Act which was passed on March 27, 2020. One whole year later, after removing limitations (PPP LOAN receipt, etc) the credit is yet again expanded and offered to business owners who kept employees on payroll throughout the pandemic and who meet certain criteria.
